Le 17 juillet, de 13h à 17h (heure japonaise), l’Institut de recherche sur les humanités de l’université de Kyoto et l’École français d’Extrême-Orient organisent un symposium sur la communauté crypto-chrétienne du village de Sendaiji (municipalité d’Ibaraki dans le Kansai) intitulé :
もう一つの〈キリシタン信徒発見〉―1879年茨木・千提寺とフランス人宣教師 /
« Une autre découverte de chrétiens cachés en 1879 : le village de Sendaiji à Ibaraki (Kansai) et les Missions étrangères de Paris »
L’événement (en japonais sans traduction) aura lieu à l’université de Kyoto (format hybride). Pour participer en ligne il est nécessaire de s’inscrire :
Ce village a la particularité d’avoir été « découvert » deux fois, une première fois en 1879 par un missionnaire français, Marin Plessis, puis une deuxième fois, en 1920, par un savant local, Fujinami Daichō. La deuxième découverte est bien connue car elle a entraîné la découverte des principaux artefacts du l’époque Kirishitan (XVIe-XVIIe s.) connus aujourd’hui, notamment un rouleau peint représentant François-Xavier (conservé aujourd’hui au musée municipal de Kobe).La première, par contre, était tombée dans l’oubli jusqu’à la découverte fortuite de nouveaux documents à Paris en 2022.

「聖フランシスコ・ザビエル像」「マリア十五玄義図」などを秘かに伝えていたことで有名な大 阪・茨木市のキリシタンの存在は、これまで大正9年（1920）に地元の関係者により発見されたと言われてきました。しかし実際には、その約40年前の明治12年（1879）に、パリ外国宣教会のフランス人宣教師によって発見されていたことが、 近年の調査で明らかになりました。本シンポジウムでは、パリや茨木に残された関連史料・遺物を手掛かりに、その発見の背景と意義について探究します。

Migration is a global phenomenon that has profound ramifications for individuals, families, and societies, influencing various aspects of quality of life. The era of COVID-19 was a sobering opportunity to reflect on the importance of mobility and speculate on what kind of socioeconomic, humanitarian and political impact the cessation of movement can have. This conference seeks to enhance our understanding of these diverse dynamics and explore migration in order to harness its potential for improving quality of life and fostering social prosperity.

The Next-Generation Global Workshop (NGGW) has been held annually since 2008 to allow early-career scholars to present their research in English and obtain feedback from an international audience. It has proved to be a pleasant and effective opportunity for capacity building through mentorship provided by the professors of participating universities around the world. It has also served as an invaluable opportunity for participants to learn from each other and deepen their understanding of various social phenomena in the world, particularly in Asia. Ultimately, the NGGW has provided a forum for scholars of different generations and from various regions to build a common academic foundation by redefining Asia in a global context.
Eligibility for application: Master’s students and Ph.D. students. The Organizing Committee will screen the applications based on candidates’ qualifications and abstracts.

Submission Guidelines:
• Applicants are requested to submit an abstract of their paper by the 1st of July (JST) via the application form.
• Abstracts must be concise, about 300 words, and include the title, author(s), affiliation, and contact information. (see the application form)
• Results of the selection will be notified by the 7th of July, and full papers will be due by the 15th of September.
• Each submission will undergo a blind selection process.
• Abstract submission deadline: 24th of June 1st of July, 2023
• Notification of abstract acceptance and selection result: 30th of June 7th of July, 2023
• Travel support notification: 1st of August, 2023
• Full paper submission deadline: 15th of September, 2023
• Conference dates: 29th and 30th of September, 2023

L’expression d’Indo-Pacifique était déjà utilisée par les géopoliticiens dans la première moitié du XXᵉ siècle, mais à la fin des années 2000, elle est devenue centrale dans le discours des acteurs des relations internationales. En 2007, le Premier ministre Shinzo Abe a annoncé un « Indo-Pacifique libre et ouvert ». L’Indo-Pacifique est devenu partie intégrante de la politique étrangère des États-Unis en 2010 et est au cœur de leur stratégie dans la zone Asie-Pacifique. La France, qui possède des territoires dans le Pacifique, a également adopté le concept. Mais malgré sa très large adoption, recouvre-t-il la même réalité dans chaque pays où il est aujourd’hui utilisé ? Quelles en sont les implications géopolitiques et quelles stratégies implique-t-il vis-à-vis de puissances concurrentes comme la Chine ?

その理由がベトナム戦争時の枯葉剤にあるのではと聞かされた妻・坂⽥雅⼦は夫の⾝に起こったことを知りたい⼀⼼でカメラを⼿に取り、ベトナムへ向かった。そこで⽬にしたのは戦後 30 年を過ぎてなお、枯葉剤の影響で重い障害を持って⽣まれてきた⼦どもたちと、彼らを愛しみ育てる家族の姿だった。
それからおよそ 20 年。ベトナムはめざましい経済発展を遂げたが、枯葉剤被害者とその家族は取り残されている。カメラは癒えることのない戦争の傷痕に向き合い続ける⼈々の姿を記録する。【司会】近藤誠一

How is Japan coping with the US-China economic competition, and how has the Japanese government formulated its trade policies and infrastructure investment strategy? The talk will focus on Japan’s geoeconomic strategy in the Indo-Pacific, whose concept has become prominent within Japanese foreign policy since its introduction in the early 2000s. On the one hand, this regional framework has presented distinct opportunities for Japan to shape the regional economic order through enhanced economic connectivity and active rule making. On the other hand, there are looming challenges for Japan to maneuver the delicate balance within the US-China competition.
